Release 4.2 will be deployed on Training 2/15/2012 and to Production 2/16/2012.
New Functionality and Enhancements
- Calculated State of Weather (SOW): The WFDSS application gets State of Weather (SOW) data directly from WIMS. Using the WIMS SOW values the WFDSS application does not have missing observed weather data.
- LANDFIRE 1.1.A: WFDSS is now using updated LANDFIRE Southeastern zone data. The updated data reflects the latest fuel and canopy characteristics for this region.
- Incident and Decision Tool Tips: The Incident and Decision tool pages now display field-level help icons ( ). Click the icon to review helpful hints for completing field content.
- WFDSS Website Training Tab: Click the Training tab, located on the far-left side of the WFDSS website, to review the WFDSS 101 feature. This section contains the most recent training material designed for new and experienced WFDSS users including lessons about:
- Creating an Incident.
- Creating Address Books and User Groups.
- Using Filters.
- Transferring Incident Ownership.
- Setting System Preferences.
- Managing Shapes.
NOTE: WFDSS no longer accepts .tiff format image files. Please save your images as .png or .jpg format.
The WFDSS Online help is frequently updated with relevant topics and guidance about using WFDSS. The WFDSS website homepage also contains the Latest News and Twitter feeds about the application. Bookmark these resources and refer to them frequently for the most current information.
WARNING: 100x100 mile landscapes have large pixel counts. They cause the modeling servers to run out of memory. If the server does not run out of memory, the model could take a month to process.
