4.9 Release Adds Map Bookmarks and Delegation of Authority Template

Release 4.9 will be deployed on Training 5/16/2013 and to Production 5/17/2013.

New Functionality and Enhancements

Bookmarking Maps: Dispatchers, Authors, Fire Behavior Specialists and GA Editors can save their current map settings on the Situation, Intelligence, and Analysis Maps so they will be available the next time they login to WFDSS. All book marks are available from any map pages when logged into WFDSS. The bookmarks help with navigation too, when a user is working with multiple incidents. There is also the option to share any bookmark as a link with other users whose privileges allow them to view the map context.

Report Templates: After the Incident Author, Data Manager, GA Editor, or National editor selects an Incident from the Incident List, they can create and edit a Report Template from Reports tab > Edit Report Templates > Template Filter. If other Report Templates exist already and have been marked National, they are available for review and can be copied to create a new template. Report Templates can be personal or national; personal can only be seen by the person who created the template, national templates are available for all eligible users to review.

WFDSS Web Browser Compatibility: WFDSS is designed for and tested with the Internet Explorer 8, 9, and Google Chrome web browsers. WFDSS may perform poorly, or even fail, if used with the newest version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser, version 10. If you must use WDFSS in Internet Explorer 10, you may find it helpful to run in Compatibility Mode.

Incident Quick Search: The Incident Quick Search feature allows you to quickly locate incidents by name and year. This feature no longer limits you to incidents within the last 365 days. It is located on the Incidents tab within the Incident List Filter section.

Stratified Cost Index (SCI): This release calculates the SCI using the 2013 model that is based on the last 10 years of data.

Management Action Points (MAPs): You can upload or download MAPs whether they are lines or polygons. WFDSS now stores lines in addition to polygons.

Analysis Intended for Dashboard: Super Analysts can indicate whether or not completed FSPro and Near Term Fire Behavior analyses are intended for use in the Dashboard. Within FSPro, this feature is located on the FSPro Information page. Within Near Term Fire Behavior it is located on the Near Term Information page in the General Information section. The default is to set so completed analyses are included in the Dashboard if the incident is currently in the Dashboard. If an analysis is not intended for use in the Dashboard, Super Analysts can change the radio button where asked "Intended for Dashboard?" from 'Yes' to 'No'.

Periodic Assessment Emails: If you are an incident Approver, you receive an email containing a link to the periodic assessment page when the assessment is due or overdue. If more than one Approver exists for an incident, you can opt out of receiving the email, by navigating to the Incident Privileges menu option and deselecting the Email box beside your name. At least one incident Approver must receive the email.

Nearby Incident Layer: By setting a Nearby Incidents Proximity Distance value in the System Preferences tab, you can display nearby fires from the current year that are not out. The Incidents now show on all map pages.

Active Planning Area Layer: By adding the spatial layer Active Planning Area in the System Preferences tab, you can display nearby active planning areas on all map pages.
