Unlocking a User's Profile

Accounts become locked for the following reasons:

If your account is locked, contact the Help Desk. Only Administrators and Help Desk can unlock any user account.

Caution for Administrators and Help Desk: Before unlocking a user's account, be sure that they are an authorized WFDSS user, particularly if they are a non-federal employee.

 To unlock a user's account:

  1. Verify that the user you are unlocking is a valid WFDSS user.
  2. Choose the Administration tab. The Administration page appears.
  3. To more easily find the account you want to unlock, filter the list by Disabled User role, geographic area, agency, or user name.
  4. Click Apply. The User List table displays the users who meet your filter criteria. If the list is empty, try modifying your criteria.
  5. Select the user account you want to unlock.
  6. Click Edit User. The Edit User page appears and displays a warning that resetting the password will unlock the account.
  7. Click the Password Reset menu option.
  8. Type a new password, and then type it again in the Confirm Password field.
  9. Click Reset Password. You will need to verbally communicate the new temporary password to the user.
