About the Situation Map

Dispatchers, Authors, Editors, Incident Owners, Incident Reviewers, and Incident Approvers use the Situation map for the following tasks to:

The Situation Map page displays by clicking the Situation tab or the small map icon located on the right side of the screen in the incident perspective. Accessing the Situation map from the Situation tab embeds the map in the application's main window whereas accessing it via the map icon will open the map in its own window. Accessing it from the icon allows the greatest flexibility as you can both edit a decision and view the Situation map simultaneously.

Note: You can find out about the Menu tab items by pausing over each item and reading the hover text explaining the function of each.

When you choose the Map tab and click the + next to each item (to expand them), you can display many informative layers on the map. If you can't see a reference or value layer in the list, go to your system preferences and add it. These layers are periodically updated in WFDSS. If analysis results are available for the incident, you can view them by expanding the Analysis layer.
