Activating an FMU or SO Code

Data Managers can activate FMU codes. Spatial data is not required to use FMU codes, however, it is required to use Strategic Objective (SO) codes. The SO codes are automatically activated when the spatial data for the SOs are loaded.

Activating an FMU code makes it available for linking to the text data for strategic objectives and/or management requirements.Strategic objectives and/or management requirements associated with that FMU or SO Code can be included in decisions.

Before activating an FMU code, verify that he FMU code is correct and associated with the right GA, agency, and unit.

To activate an FMU or SO code:

  1. Choose Data Management > FMU/SO Codes. The FMU/SO Codes page appears.
  2. Select the Geographic Area, Agency, and Unit that you want to edit FMU codes for.
  3. Scroll down to the FMU Code list for the selected unit.
  4. Select the FMU Code that you want to activate.
  5. Click Activate. A message appears reminding you that once an FMU Code is activated it can never be deleted.
  6. Click OK. The FMU Code status changes to Active.

You can edit the description or deactivate the FMU code. You can edit the description only for the SO Code. You can no longer delete the FMU or SO Code. You can now associate strategic objectives and management requirements to the FMU or SO code, and include that information in decisions.
