Downloading an Incident KMZ File for a Pending Decision

Incident Owners and Editors can open and view an incident KMZ file for a pending decision in WFDSS for use in briefings or other incident-related activities. When viewing KMZ files for a pending decision, the KMZ file contains all mapping information (planning, MAPs, incident obj. shapes, fire perimeter, and accepted fire behavior analysis) from the Incident folder.

To download an an incident KMZ File for a pending decision:

1. From the Incident list, select the incident > click View Information. The Edit Information page appears.
2. Select the Decisions tab. The Decisions List appears.
3. Select the Pending Decision, then click Pending KMZ. The File Dowload box appears.
4. Click one of the download options:
   • Save to download the KMZ file to your desktop. Specifiy the location to save the file. Click Save. Once the file is downloaded to your computer, you can double-click the file to open it in Google Earth.
   • Open to display the KMZ file in Google Earth. The KMZ file name appears in the My Places pane in Google Earth. You can view the information by clicking the + to expand the list.
   • Cancel to exit the File Download box and return to WFDSS.

Once you download the KMZ, you can use it outside of WFDSS; examples include training, briefings, or data management.
